Principio

La ecuación de Bernoulli establece que la suma de todas las formas de energía en un fluido que fluye a lo largo de un camino cerrado es la misma en cualquiera de los dos puntos en ese camino (o línea de corriente). Su fórmula en la hipótesis simplista del flujo incomprensible (movimiento fluido con cambios insignificantes en la densidad) es:

v: velocidad del fluido a lo largo de la línea de corriente
g: aceleración de la gravedad en la Tierra
h: altura
p: presión a lo largo de la línea de corriente
r: densidad del fluido

Como una consecuencia de esta ley, un fluido que pasa a través de constricciones de variación suave está sujeto a cambios en la velocidad y la presión. Un Venturi es un sistema para acelerar el flujo del fluido, al restringirlo en un cono con forma de tubo. En la restricción, el fluido debe aumentar su velocidad reduciendo su presión y produciendo un vacío parcial. Como el fluido sale de la constricción, su presión aumenta al nivel del ambiente o de la tubería.

Aplicaciones:

Los Venturi son usados para medir la velocidad de un fluido, midiendo los cambios de presión de un punto a otro a lo largo del Venturi.

Un Venturi también puede ser usado para inyectar un líquido o un gas dentro de otro líquido. Una bomba fuerza el flujo del líquido a través de un tubo conectado a:

  • Un Venturi para incrementar la velocidad del fluido (restricción del diámetro del tubo)
  • Una pequeña pieza de tubería conectada a la fuente de gas
  • Un segundo Venturi que disminuye la velocidad del fluido (el diámetro del tubo aumenta nuevamente)

Después del primer Venturi, la presión en el tubo es menor, así que el gas es absorbido en el tubo. Entonces, la mezcla entra al segundo Venturi y disminuye la velocidad. Al final del sistema una mezcla de gas y líquido aparece y la presión vuelve a subir a su nivel normal en el tubo.

Esta técnica es usada para inyección de ozono en agua.

El nuevo diseño de inyectores crea una mezcla completa de materiales inyectados (aire, ozono o químicos), eliminando la necesidad de usar otros mezcladores en línea. Los inyectores Venturi tienen partes fijas y de fácil mantenimiento. Estos operan efectivamente sobre un amplio rango de presiones (desde 1 hasta 250 psi) y solo requieren una diferencia de presión mínima para iniciar el vacío en la parte de succión. Los Venturi están construidos en termoplástico (PVC, PE, PVDF), acero inoxidable u otros materiales.

El efecto de la cavitación en la cámara de inyección proporciona una mezcla instantánea, creando miles de burbujas muy diminutas de gas en l líquido. Las burbujas pequeñas generan e incrementan la exposición del gas al área de superficie líquida, incrementando la eficacia del proceso (es decir, la ozonización).
