If you have fine hair or straight hair, get a hair brush with boar bristles. They are incredibly gentle and stop you from getting hair static. For thick, curly or wavy hair brushes with stronger and wider bristles (e.g. nylon bristles) that can penetrate deep into the hair and detangle it without pulling are more suitable.
“Short hair is in a separate category, as you can brush it using almost anything, but the subsequent styling can be more complicated. If you want to give it volume, definitely go for a narrow round hair brush together with a hair dryer,” Kateřina explains.

- Start at the ends. When combing your hair, always start at the ends and work your way up. This will prevent breakages and pulling.Use the right brush for your hair type.

If you’re looking for the best blow-dry hairbrush, definitely go for a round one with a ceramic surface that distributes the heat evenly. In general, round brushes are ideal for getting volume.
Meanwhile, a paddle brush is the best brush for detangling hair. It’s far more versatile and can smooth your hair and, with a bit of skill, you can conjure up the volume you want.
You can also opt for a detangling brush; they are developed specially for extra-gentle brushing. They are especially appreciated by people with a sensitive scalp or those who suffer from hair loss. The big advantage of these brushes is that they are easy to keep clean – you just need to rinse them with water.

Hair-straightening brushes are perfect for quick styling. You can detangle and straighten your hair quickly and easily at the same time. As a bonus, these brushes also deliver volume and a beautiful shine. Choose your straightening brush the same way as you would a regular brush when it comes to hair type. So take the bristle type and heat settings into consideration.
Coarse, unruly or curly hair needs a higher temperature (210–230 °C) in order to be tamed. Fine hair, on the other hand, needs a lower temperature (170–200 °C) to avoid damage. Some brushes also have protective features such as ionisation to minimise frizz.
Always use a straightening brush on dry hair to which you have previously applied heat protection, then just brush through it carefully from root to tip until you are completely satisfied with the results.
